After our hotpot lunch in the bomb shelter, we visited the nearby Liziba Anti-Japanese War Relics Park (李子坝抗战遗址公园), a hillside sanctuary where Chongqing’s wartime history blends with stunning river vistas. Stretching 1.8 kilometers along the Jialing River, this is Chongqing's very first park dedicated entirely to preserving the architectural remnants of its era as China’s wartime capital. While thousands of tourists crowded the nearby monorail platform, stepping into this quiet park revealed the true, unyielding spirit of old Chongqing.
Nestled directly between the rugged slopes of Eling Mountain and the sweeping bend of the Jialing River, the park boasts a high 60% greenery rate. Winding stone pathways cut through towering ancient banyan, ginkgo, and camphor trees, giving visitors a peaceful, shaded retreat. The architectural landscape uses meticulously restored brickwork and intricate wooden railings to blend natural beauty with a heavy sense of history.
The park preserved five distinct clusters of historic wartime structures that once served as centers of national politics, finance, and culture.
The Gao Residence (高公馆) is a striking, Sino-Western fusion estate that once hosted national banquets, including a state dinner where Indian leader Nehru famously learned to use chopsticks.
At the end of the park, there was a playground. The see-saw was even capable of charging our devices.
It's not a very big park but it's a nice walk in the park after lunch.
