22 Apr 2026 - CKG Day 5: Two Days Tour to Wulong (武隆)

Prior to this Chongqing trip, we had booked a two days tour to Wulong (武隆) via Klook. These two days were the key highlights of our entire trip. We checked out of our hotel early this morning to catch a shuttle bus to the meeting point to board the actual tour coach to Wulong. The journey took roughly 3.5 hours to cover the 180-kilometer distance, traveling southeast along the G65 Baomao Expressway. Far from a boring highway drive, this route was a scenic attraction in its own right.

Chongqing isn't called the "Mountain City" for nothing. The coach would plunge through dozens of massive tunnels bored straight through limestone mountains, some lasting several kilometers. Each time we exited a tunnel, a new valley opened up.

About two hours into the ride, the highway began to parallel the Wu River (乌江).

As we entered Wulong District, the coach left the main highway and began its final climb up a series of dramatic mountain switchbacks toward Xiannushan Town (仙女山镇).

The temperature dropped noticeably here, and the landscape transitioned into a misty, alpine environment. Soon, we arrived at a massive, pyramid-shaped Wulong Karst Tourist Center.
