22 Apr 2026 - CKG Day 5: Aerial View of Wulong (飞阅武隆)

From the Three Natural Bridges (天生三桥), we headed towards the town for a simulator ride called "Flying Over Wulong (飞阅武隆)". It is an immersive, high-tech attraction located in the Fairy Mountain Subdistrict (仙女山镇). It offers visitors the thrill of exploring Wulong's dramatic karst landscape without having to hike the rugged trails. The theater utilizes a massive panoramic dome screen that eliminates the need for 3D glasses while delivering 8K ultra-high-definition visuals.

As the ride started, the seats lifted and tilted sharply, dangling our feet in the air to simulate the genuine sensation of hang-gliding or piloting a flight. The simulation was enhanced by built-in 7D sensory cue, including sharp blasts of wind, mist, and synchronized background music, to mirror the weather barriers of the canyons.

The virtual journey lasted about 6 minutes and acted as a rapid "best-of" tour across Wulong's UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Together with the group, we then went to a hotel restaurant for dinner (included). For those who booked with local tour, this was also the hotel where they would be staying tonight. Noted that there was no lift in these hotels and those staying on 3rd or 4th floor had a hard time carrying their luggage up. As for us, since we booked through Klook, we would be transferred later to another better hotel. But I guessed we probably paid slightly more than the locals.

After dinner, our adventure had not ended for the day. We would be watching a massive, live-action nighttime spectacular directed by the legendary filmmaker Zhang Yimou (张艺谋). Stay tuned for my next post.
