It took about 15 minutes to travel from Port Rashid to Festival City Mall by taxi. We alighted at one of the mall entrances next to Hard Rock Cafe.
There were two reasons why we decided to come to Festival City Mall today. Firstly, we intended to leave our luggage with the mall reception and the charge here was only 20 AED for all our luggage, which is a lot cheaper than that in Dubai Mall with a charge of 50 AED per luggage. Secondly, this mall is just 10 minutes away from the airport by taxi. In other words, we can shop much longer here as we only need leave for the airport in the late afternoon.
With over 500 brands and stores to choose from, Festival City Mall Dubai is home to the city's only IKEA, a flagship Zara store and the largest luxury department store, Robinsons.
Other than the indoor mall, there are other activities at the Festival Bay. The whole place was decorated as if we were in a Christmas wonderland.
The main highlight here is the record-breaking visual extravaganza plays at Festival Bay every night. However, we had to give it a miss as we needed to get to the airport by 6pm to catch our flight.
We then went indoor to check out the other parts of the mall.
Dubai Festival City is the Middle East's largest mixed-use development which comprises of a series of residential communities, numerous hotels, malls, a golf course and other entertainment sites. The mall itself is a retail power centre which includes IKEA, Carrefour Hypermart, Ace Hardware and Robinsons.
As we had already bought most of our souvenirs in Abu Dhabi, we decided to go on a Dhow Sightseeing Cruise instead of window shopping in the mall.
