Roda Al Murooj is a 5-star property which consists both Hotel and Apartments. This property is really huge. There are 5 restaurants and bars, outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pool, fully equipped gymnasium and tennis courts, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and treatment rooms, all within the property compound. There is even a Ladies Salon and a Barber Shop next to our apartment building. Click here to see the apartment that we stayed.
That's not all! There is also a Pharmacy as well as a 24x7 Supermarket located within the property.
This supermarket is not just a small mini mart. It is under a UAE supermarket chain by Al Maya group. Al Maya Supermarket were pioneers with the free home delivery concept which it operates 24-hours, a feat that no other retailer can claim. Today Almaya Supermarkets has a strong network of over fifty supermarkets across the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman.
I was surprised to see Woolworths logo printed on the shirt worn by a supermarket staff. And I also saw an advertisement showcasing products from Woolworths Australia. So I did some research and found that in Feb 2019, Al Maya Group has announced that it has secured an export partnership with the government of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, that will see products by Australian supermarket Woolworths be available to residents across the UAE.We bought some sweets with flavours that we do not see back home. :-)
From the supermarket, we saw a unique building, Dusit Thani, which is a hotel with an architectural structure meant to evoke hands held in prayer, a traditional Thai greeting. It was the first hotel in the Gulf countries to hold an EarthCheck Gold Certification for sustainability.
