15 Nov 2022 - Day 2: (Adelaide) Mount Lofty Summit

From Westfield Marion, it's a 30 mins drive to Mount Lofty Summit.
This majestic peak of the Mount Lofty Ranges in the Adelaide Hills provides a spectacular panoramic views across Adelaide’s city skyline to the coast.  Its elevation is 710 m (2,330 ft) and is the highest point in the southern Mount Lofty Ranges.
Mount Lofty was named by Matthew Flinders on 23 March 1802 during his circumnavigation of the Australian continent.  Around the viewing platform at the summit stands a stone cairn which was originally used to mark the trig point (triangulation station), and in 1885 this was replaced by an obelisk which served as the central reference point for surveying purposes across Adelaide.
In 1902 the obelisk was rededicated and renamed as the "Flinders Column".
There are several walking and cycling trails ranging from 20 mins to 5 hours from the summit.  As it's drizzling (actually even if it's not), we decided to take the simplest walk, Discovery Walk, which is a 500m loop trail.
At the start of the trail, we saw a Kookaburra right in front of us.  Sadly, instead of using my new Iphone 14 Pro to zoom in for the photo, I unknowingly used my older Iphone XR to take the photos below.  Otherwise, I can really zoom into it for a clearer photo.  Yes...I brought two phones for this trip.
It was quite a nice walk although it's under light rain and a bit cold.  Comparing with walking under the hot sun in summer, we actually prefer this weather.
