21 Nov 2022 - Day 8: (Grampians) Bunjil Shelter

After a night of rest and effect of the medicine, Javier felt better this morning and he's able to come along with us.  However, since he had just recovered, we decided to go for short and easy walks.  Our first stop of the day is Bunjil Shelter, located in the Black Range Scenic Reserve near Stawell.
We followed the easy 100m walking trail to the cave painting.
Along the way, there were many huge and unique boulders.
This (below) is the only rockart painting of Bunjil known. It is widely regarded as one of the most significant cultural sites in southeastern Australia.  Bunjil is a legendary hero, the creator who provides for all and remains as a protector of the natural world, his people and their beliefs.  When Bunjil finished his creation works, he transformed into an eagle and flew high into the sky, where he still lives today.
We then took a different path back to the car park.  It felt good to take a relax stroll through nature in the morning.
The rock below looks like a troll's head.  Don't you think so?
