From Lorne Visitor Centre, we drove passed a campsite and arrived at a swing bridge. This historic Lorne's Swing Bridge has graced the Erskine River mouth since 1937.
We crossed the bridge to the other side of the river and saw a grave called the Splitters Grave. Two sons (age 8 and 4) of a splitter, whose hut stood on the hillside above, drowned in a quicksand while at play. They were buried here the next day. Here we were also able to witness the power of the waves. When we saw people getting really close to the waves, we were actually pretty worried for them.
