17 Nov 2022 - Day 4: (Kangaroo Island) Remarkable Rocks

Our last stop of the day is the Remarkable Rocks at Flinders Chase National Park.  It's a nice drive along the coast towards the Remarkable Rocks.
Remarkable Rocks are those rock formations that often appear to be defying gravity.  Perched above the sea in Flinders Chase National Park, the impressive Remarkable Rocks form what appear to be a cluster of precariously balanced granite boulders.  This stunning work of nature has been shaped by the erosive forces of wind, sea spray and rain over some 500 million years.
Remarkable Rocks are perfectly placed on a granite outcrop and look like they have been left there on display by an abstract sculpture artist.
Look at the size of the rocks compared to us.
The below photos can be seen in many magazines or brochures.  They are arguably the symbol of Kangaroo Island, if not all of South Australia.
Remarkable Rocks and the surrounding area were engulfed by the bushfires in 2019-2020.  Luckily, being rocks, there was no damage to the attraction itself.  All the infrastructure was destroyed though.  The boardwalk that we took to access to the Remarkable Rocks are newly built after the bushfires.
Below are some highlights of the Remarkable Rocks.
The drive from Remarkable Rocks back to our accommodation at Kingscote is approximately 1.5 hours.  Fortunately, we managed to get some food from Kangaroo Island Fresh Seafood Cafe before it closed.
