In the northern districts of Kaohsiung, where urban bustle meets calm waters, Lotus Pond (蓮池潭) stands out as one of the city’s most serene and scenic destinations.
Famous for its temple complexes, lakeside paths, vibrant reflections, and seasonal lotus blooms, this expansive lake offered a harmonious mix of nature, culture, and leisure that invited us to slow down and explore. This large lake is surrounded by walking paths, pavilions, bridges, gardens, and dozens of temples and religious structures.
We came to a rest stop where it was occupied by different species of birds. Very seldom will we see such a "bird community" in the wild.
Further down the path, we arrived at a National Heritage site where there is a stone wall from the Qing Dynasty. It was completed in the year 1826.
Soon, a twin tower appeared in front of us. It's the most photographed site at Lotus Pond and I'll write about it in my next post.
