25 Dec 2025 - KHH Day 5: Cijin Tunnel of Stars (旗津星空隧道)

One of Kaohsiung’s most quietly magical spots is the Cijin Tunnel of Stars (旗津星空隧道). Once an ordinary military tunnel carved into the rocky coastline, it has been transformed into a glowing, dreamlike passage where the ocean meets imagination.

The moment we stepped inside the tunnel, the atmosphere changed instantly. The tunnel ceiling and walls were decorated with glowing LED lights shaped like stars, planets, fish, and sea creatures, creating the illusion of walking through a night sky beneath the ocean. Soft shades of blue, purple, and green rippled gently across the surfaces, mimicking the movement of water and light. The sound of waves filtering in from the tunnel openings reminded us that the ocean is just beyond the walls, grounding the fantasy in reality.

What makes the Tunnel of Stars special is how well it reflects Cijin’s identity. The designs draw from both cosmic imagery and marine life, blending the idea of the vast night sky with the deep, ever-present sea.

As we stepped out of Cijin Tunnel of Stars, we were presented with an open, natural expanse of the coastline ahead. Waves rolled in steadily, breaking against the rocks below with a deep, rhythmic pulse.
