From Yizhong Night Market, we walked to Taichung Park, a peaceful oasis situated in the middle of Taichung’s busy streets and shopping districts. Established in 1903 during the Japanese colonial era, Taichung Park is one of Taiwan’s oldest urban parks.
With its tranquil lake, historic pavilion, and shaded walking paths, this century-old park offered a refreshing break from the city’s urban energy. There was a 5-stars toilet but it's just a normal public toilet.
The symbol of Taichung Park is the picturesque Lake Heart Pavilion (湖心亭), built in 1908 to commemorate the completion of the north–south railway. The pavilion sits elegantly in the middle of the lake, connected by a curved bridge. Its classical Chinese-style architecture contrasts beautifully with the surrounding greenery. When we were there, the sky had already turned dark, and we could not see the pavilion clearly. However, when the surrounding decoration started to light up over the lake at night, it was equally beautiful. There was also a fountain show.
We then decided to walk back to our hotel for checking into our room. Along the way, we passed by a mall where we entered to use its washroom.
Later we came to a dessert stall (月春粉粿) and decided to sit down to have some refreshing ice dessert.
