As recommended by the hotel owner, we took the metro to Central Park which is just one MRT station away. The moment we stepped out of the station, we immediately felt the festive mood all around.
From late November through early January, Kaohsiung Central Park is dressed in shimmering lights and holiday décor as part of the city’s annual Christmas celebrations. At the heart of the park stood a towering Christmas tree, dramatically illuminated and visible from a distance.
Beyond the main tree, the park was filled with themed light displays. One example was the illuminated walkways and arches that glowed softly as we strolled through it. The lighting transformed Central Park after sunset, turning what was usually a calm green space into a gentle, magical nightscape without feeling overcrowded or overwhelming.
There was a board displaying a timetable of events happening during this festive season. We were pleased to find out that there's going to be a live performance by Weibird (韦礼安) later. As the mini concert will only start in about an hour's time, we decided to go for our dinner first.Across the road from Central Park, we saw an eatery called 八方云集. After seeing the menu, we decided to have our dinner there.
The food here was not only good, but the price was also very reasonable. Highly recommended.
After dinner, we walked back to Central Park to immense ourselves into the Christmas mood.
One of the unique charms of celebrating Christmas in Kaohsiung is the weather. Even in December, evenings are comfortably cool rather than cold, making it ideal for outdoor walks. We were all ready for the Weibird's concert. ✌
