Also known as Yanping Street (延平街), Anping Old Street is often described as the oldest commercial street in Taiwan. Its origins date back to the 17th century when Anping was a major trading port during Dutch rule.
As it was already 1:30pm and we had not taken our lunch, we headed to an iconic beancurd shop (安平豆花) to fill our stomach.
As we entered the shop, we thought it was a bookstore. There were shelves of books all around the shop for customers to read while waiting for their food to be served.Initially we thought this was just a dessert shop but were glad that they do sell noodles as well.
After lunch, we continued to navigate through Anping Old Street, which captures the flavor of old Tainan, both literally and historically.
