Around our accommodation is a lively and bustling area filled with shops and eateries, including popular global brands and famous local eateries.
Our plan was to take a stroll towards Ximending area. Along the way, we saw many interesting shops. We read that there are many special theme 7-eleven stores in Taiwan and the first one we saw was based on Peanuts Comic (Snoopy, Charlie Brown and friends) theme.
We then arrived at Taipei Animate Store, one of Jerlene's favourite. At the basement, there were a wide range of Japanese and Taiwanese manga, light novels, and magazines. But what interest Jerlene most are the character merchandise such as figures, plushies, posters and keychains.
At Ximending (西门町), we visited one of the most popular 7-Eleven theme stores based on Sanrio characters.
As we entered the store, a life-sized Hello Kitty statue holding a themed coffee cup was there to greet us.
The shop is decorated in pink and pastel tones, with Sanrio characters on walls, shelves, and even on the ceiling lights.
Other than the regular convenience store items, there’s a selection of Hello Kitty and other Sanrio character merchandise such as plush toys, bags, mugs, umbrellas, and other themed goods that aren’t usually found in a standard 7-Eleven.
