22 Dec 2025 - TPE Day 2: Taipei 101

Since Taipei 101 was within walking distance, we decided to go have a closer look. At night, Taipei 101 becomes the unmistakable focal point of the city’s skyline. Rising above the surrounding buildings, its tiered exterior is instantly recognisable, inspired by the shape of a traditional bamboo stalk, a symbol of strength, resilience, and upward growth in Chinese culture.
On different nights, the tower glows in shades of blue, red, purple, yellow, or green, often corresponding to days of the week, festivals, or special events. The colours are vivid yet controlled, making the tower stands out without flooding the skyline with harsh light.
We knew that there is Din Tai Fung (鼎泰丰) inside Taipei 101 and wanted to have dinner there. However, the queue was crazy, and we were not prepared to wait for an hour to get a table. As such, we decided to go somewhere else nearby for dinner.
