22 Dec 2025 - TPE Day 2: Pokémon Center Taipei and Xinyi Xmas Deco

We will never miss a Pokémon Center if there is one in the city. Located on the 3rd floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi Place A11 in Xinyi District, Pokémon Center Taipei is Taiwan’s first permanent official Pokémon store.

Before visiting the Pokémon Center, we decided to have our dinner first.

Pokémon Center Taipei, opened on 8 December 2023, is only the second permanent store outside Japan (after Singapore).

The moment we approached the store, we noticed the bright, cheerful storefront with a Pikachu and a large Dragonite figure, setting the tone for a fun, immersive experience.

One of the biggest draws here is the exclusive Pokémon Center Taipei products that we won’t find anywhere else. One example was the Taipei Pokémon EasyCards. After we were done with our purchases, we went to the VIP center to process the tax refund.

Stepping out of the mall, we were immediately swept up in the Xinyi District’s holiday magic. A towering Christmas tree outside Shin Kong Mitsukoshi’s A11 building was the center of attraction.

As the lights came on, the whole district felt like a dreamscape. We felt that the Christmas mood and the atmosphere here were a lot better than back home.

Not sure if you are aware. Christmas Day (December 25th) is generally not an official public holiday in Taiwan, meaning most businesses and schools operate as usual, though it's a major cultural and commercial event with festive celebrations and decorations.  This year (2025), it aligns with Constitution Day, making it a day off, but this isn't the norm.
