We followed Zhongshan Road and after walking for about 15 minutes, we reached Taichung Second Market. Established during the Japanese colonial period in 1917, Taichung Second Market was originally built to organize street vendors into a centralized, hygienic marketplace.
Unlike flashy night markets or modern food halls, this historic marketplace is where generations of locals gather for breakfast, groceries, and traditional flavors that have stood the test of time. Its hexagonal layout remains distinctive even today. After walking one round through the market, we decided to have Braised Pork Rice (滷肉飯) for our lunch.
The portion wasn't huge, so Javier and I had to order a second round. The taste was really good though.
