24 Dec 2025 - KHH Day 4: Check-in to Gwawa Hotel (吉娃娃商旅)

Our accommodation at Kaohsiung (高雄) for the next 3 nights was Gwawa Hotel (吉娃娃商旅), nestled along Liuhe 1st Road in Xinxing District, in the heart of Kaohsiung’s lively urban core. We booked this hotel because it's within walking distance of night markets, metro connections, and the city’s most iconic spots.

Gwawa is a 3-star hotel but felt more like a modern guesthouse with tidy spaces, personal touches, and a casual atmosphere. The hotel owners were a couple who were very friendly and helpful.

There was a common pantry area where hotel guests could come and grab any snacks or drinks free of charge. The hotel owner also offered us laundry service for free, if required.

We booked a family room which was quite spacious, with two queen beds, a desk area, and a small seating corner, yet it still felt very roomy.

A stand-alone swing, which was positioned near a seating nook and window, added a fun and relaxed vibe to the room.

One of Gwawa’s biggest draws was how walkable everything was. Liuhe Night Market and Formosa Boulevard metro station are both within walking distance.

We managed to catch the sunset from our room.  Nice!
