29 Dec 2025 - TCH Day 9: Train from Tainan to Taichung

We checked out of Yoshi Hotel this morning and walked to Tainan station to take a train to Taichung. While waiting for the train to arrive at the platform, we saw a Sanrio Themed Train passed by.

The journey took about 1.5 hours. Though High-Speed Rail (HSR) is a lot faster (about 40 minutes), we still prefer TRA train because of the location of the station. The HSR station in Taichung was pretty far from the city centre where we will be staying. As for the TRA train station, it was within walking distance.

Taichung Train Station was huge and looks new. Opened in 2016, it is a modern, elevated transportation hub designed with a massive, streamlined roof and open-air concourses, offering a sci-fi-like aesthetic.
